This Accelerator provides Local Councils with a way to manage the reopening of their Household Waste Recycling Centres (HWRC) without running the risk of breaking the Highways Act by potentially blocking the highway with lines of vehicles.
With residents keen to dispose of household waste that has been collected over the lockdown period, and in order to maintain social distancing whilst on site, there is a need to manage the number of vehicles that can attend a specific HWRC at any given time. This Accelerator has been designed to allow residents to book specific date and time slots at a Council’s HWR Centres.
The Accelerator also includes a process to help ensure that bookings are not wasted by preventing a resident from making bookings if they have failed to attend two bookings in a given calendar month.
